Where will I be volunteering?

Due to the nature of the role, you will be out and about but you will operate from a base at either our Ipswich or Coventry refurbishment centres or from Maidstone in Kent, Guildford in Surrey or Redcar in North Yorkshire.

What commitment is expected from me?

It would be really helpful if you volunteered regularly, ideally on an agreed day/s every week although due to the nature of the role it would be great if you had some flexibility

What will I be helping to achieve?

Ensuring that collections are made from volunteer collectors and members of the public with large quantities to donate and

that the tools reach the relevant refurbishment centre.

What are the main things that I will be doing?

  • Driving one of the TWAM vans on a defined route to collection points

  • Helping load the van at the visits and with the loading and unloading of the van at the refurbishment centre

  • Carrying out relevant pre-trip and post trip checks and recording these in the journey log

What strengths and skills will be helpful for this role?

A friendly and welcoming personality.  Happy to often be working on their own.  Someone who likes driving and doesn't mind covering large distances.

What support can I expect to receive?

A Full induction including a driving assessment and a volunteer handbook on starting.  You will normally have the opportunity to do at least one run accompanied by an experienced TWAM driver.  A named contact whilst you are volunteering and further training as required.

What can I expect from volunteering with TWAM?

The warm satisfaction of being able to make a difference.  A chance to meet new people and learn new skills.  A reference if required for a future employer.
