Volunteer role description


Where will I be volunteering?

Currently we have tool refurbishing teams in Coventry, Halstead and Ipswich.  Plus the independent centres in Sheffield, Frinton in Essex, Chatham in Kent, Ringwood in Hampshire and Bebington in the Wirrall.

What commitment is expected from me?

It would be really helpful if you volunteered regularly, ideally on an agreed day/s every week 

What will I be helping to achieve?

Ensuring that tools received by the refurbishment centre receive the TLC they need to get them working and in a good

condition to go into tools sets.

What are the main things I will be doing?

  • Cleaning and tidying up tools in their area of expertise

  • Carrying out minor repairs where appropriate and refurbishment which could include sharpening, replacing parts or restoring tools in their area.

  • Testing that tools are fit for purpose where appropriate


What strengths and skills will be helpful for this role?

A friendly personality and able to work well as part of a team.  Ideally some skills in the relevant area although training can be provided. Commitment and a willingness to work hard.  An eye for detail and determination to see the job through 

What support can I expect to receive?

A Full induction and volunteer handbook on starting. A named contact whilst you are volunteering and further training as required.

What can I expect from volunteering with TWAM?

The warm satisfaction of being able to make a difference.  A chance to meet new people and learn new skills.  A reference if required for a future employer.
