Refurbishment Champion

Join our team of Refurbishment Champions and make a difference in the lives of thousands of people across Africa! As a Refurbishment Champion, you will be responsible for saving hundreds of tonnes of tools from landfills and transforming them into livelihood-creating tools.

We're looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers who are flexible and willing to help out wherever needed. You'll play a key role in identifying the tools that can be used to change lives, giving them some basic TLC to bring them back to life, and putting together life-transforming kits that support long-term, livelihood-sustaining projects across Africa.

There are three key roles:

Tool Specialist: when the tools arrive on the TWAM van or from the general public, these key volunteers identify the tools that we can use to change lives and the tools that we need to find another home for.

Tool Champion: they take the tools that we can use and, through some basic TLC, give them another chance to be used and loved. A tool can be anything from a hammer to a sewing machine.

Toolkit Creator: they put together life-transforming kits, from a small sewing kit to an entire mechanics workshop kit.

As a Refurbishment Champion, you'll be an essential part of our mission to support environmental responsibility and life-transforming projects across Africa. Join our flexible and exciting volunteer team today and become a part of something truly special! If you have any questions about this role, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Paul Daley, our Volunteering Coordinator, at pauld@twam.uk.

Time commitment

It would be really helpful if you volunteered regularly, ideally on an agreed day(s) every week, although due to the nature of the role, it would be great if you had some flexibility
