Bike Repair Team Member

 Volunteer role description

Where will I be volunteering?

Currently we have a bike repair team in Ipswich

What commitment is expected of me?

It would be really helpful if you volunteered regularly, ideally on an agreed day/s every week

What will I be helping to achieve?

Ensuring that the strong bikes we receive, whilst limited in number are all checked and repaired for their future

gruelling life in Africa.

What are the main things I will be doing?

  • Checking over bikes received to ensure they are in good repair and fit for purpose.

  • Carrying out repairs where needed and re-checking before the bike is deemed fit to send

What strengths and skills will be helpful for this role?

A friendly personality  and able to work well as part of a team.  Some knowledge of bikes and carrying out repairs would

be helpful, or an aptitude to learn quickly.   An eye for detail is essential as any small fault could cause a problem in heavy African terrain.

What support can I expect to receive?

A Full induction and volunteer handbook on starting. A named contact whilst you are volunteering and further training

as required.

What can I expect from volunteering with TWAM?

The warm satisfaction of being able to make a difference.  A chance to meet new people and learn new skills.  A

reference if required for a future employer.
